Virgin launches daily Melbourne – Doha service
Virgin Australia continues to expand its international long-haul network with the launch of its inaugural daily Melbourne–Doha service. In partnership with Qatar Airways, VA will now operate four services to the Middle Eastern capital each day from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. The new route unlocks seamless one-stop access to more than 170 global destinations via Doha through Qatar Airways’ network.
Virgin to relaunch direct Sydney – Darwin flights from June 26
Virgin Australia will resume direct flights between Sydney and Darwin from 22 June 2026. The airline will operate up to seven return flights per week during peak travel periods, adding 80,000 seats annually between the two destinations.
Qantas launches Gold Coast – Auckland route from Jun 26
Qantas has announced the return of international flying from the Gold Coast, with direct flights to Auckland on sale now and set for commence service from 16 June 2026. Qantas will operate three flights per week year round on the new route, adding more than 52,000 seats annually across the Tasman. The airline will also be the only airline offering Business class between the two cities.
